After completing the Getting Ready phase, you now have a problem to solve, a vision for change and a plan to move forward.
You have also begun to identify the drivers and barriers that will shape your project. This “landscape” (current situation) now needs to be more fully understood.
The 'Getting Started' phase is all about exploring the needs and priorities of your stakeholders and community. It aligns with the first half of the Design Council’s Double Diamond, helping you define the problem clearly before designing solutions.
By the end of this phase, your team should have:
- A clear, universally-agreed problem definition, shaped by deeper engagement with stakeholders and communities.
- A stronger, shared understanding of your vision.
- A solid understanding of stakeholders’ needs, informed by direct feedback.
- A clear project brief with goals, scope and approach, with alignment across all members and partners.
